The Dublin University Mathematical Society
The Dublin Universisty Mathsoc was first founded in 1923 and has been running as one of the top STEM societies for over 100 years. The student mathematical society was orginially established by a group of Trinity students with a passion for maths including Nobel Laureate Ernest Walton. The aims of the society were to provide events of mathematical interest for its members, and to encourage the study of mathematics and the society still continutes to persue these goals to this day.
What We Do
We try to balance our activities for all maths lovers, whether you want to further you knowledge of maths, or try your hand in competiting in college level competions, or just want to meet people who share an interest in mathematics, we do it all.
If you want to learn more in-depth about maths that you might not cover in your modules, we regularly have talks from both Trinity lecturers and international speakers about their research and what they specialise in.
If you are looking to spend a fun evening making some friends and memories, we have run events ranging from Countdown to Junior and Leaving Cert speedruns, to closed space coffee mornings for gender minorities.
If you want to test your wits and have a bit of a competitive spirit, be sure not to miss our annual Integral Bee and visit the weekly problem solving group. You can learn more about them and about intervarsities on the Problem Solving page.
