This Green Week, join us for a talk by Caroline Brophy in the Synge theatre this Thursday at 7:00pm. The title of the talk is “Statistical Modelling – A useful tool in sustainable agriculture?” and here’s a summary:

Agricultural systems are under pressure to increase production to feed growing global populations. However, many agricultural practices are associated with high greenhouse gas emissions and the 2021 IPCC and COP26 reports are unequivocal: transformative change in agriculture is needed to protect the future of our planet and of human civilisation. In this talk I will explore statistical models to evaluate the potential of increased species diversity as a win-win solution for improving the sustainability of agricultural production systems.
